VOTE FOR VAAD

Glenn Vaad

My name is Glenn Vaad and I’m running to represent Senate District 23 in the Colorado Legislature.

My wife Mollie and I make our home in Mead – in southwest Weld County – where we reside with our golden retriever, Alexandra. We are the proud parents of two grown children and grandparents of two girls and two boys.

Before entering a life of public stewardship, most of my professional life was spent as a transportation project manager with the Colorado Department of Transportation. I was first elected to office in 1978 when my fellow residents of Mead honored me with a seat on the Mead Town Council. For ten years starting in 1980, I served on the St. Vrain Valley School Board. In 1998 I was elected to the Weld Board of County Commissioners and subsequently the Colorado House of Representatives in 2006.

I am running for Colorado Senate out of a deep commitment to public service. Whether in my role as Elder at my church or as thirty-five year elected official, I am genuinely motivated to make my community, my state and my country a better place to live. As your next Senator, I will work every day to lower our taxes, shrink our state government and remove burdensome regulations to get Coloradoans back to work. I am dedicated to help lift our sagging economy by getting government out of the way of small business and entrepreneurship.

As a young man growing up I watched my Dad build and operate a small homebuilding enterprise. It was the ultimate example of a family-run business where financial decisions were made at the dining room table. My father’s career as a successful small businessman serves as profound source of inspiration for me. Out of respect for his memory – and for thousands of Colorado small business owners – I maintain a deep and abiding concern for the issues confronting the private sector in today’s economy.

We have so much to be thankful for as residents of the the great state of Colorado, but several challenges threaten our quality of life. Despite a lot of hard work by Republicans in our Legislature, our state and our country face difficult economic times ahead. If I am elected as your next Senator, you have my pledge to fight for economic growth, sound fiscal policy and more jobs for our hardworking citizens.

Thank you again for visiting my website – and for taking an interest in this important race. I look forward to getting a chance to meet you during the campaign.

Sincerely,

Glenn Vaad
